Recognizing Our Mom and Pop Business Owners

March 28th, 2016

When you hear the term “mom and pop business”, you rarely think of a company the size of Inter-State Studio & Publishing Co. From our humble beginnings in Guy Snyder’s basement in 1933 at the height of The Great Depression, to serving 30 states in school pictures and all 50 states in yearbook design and publishing, we are still a mom and pop company. The Snyders have owned and operated Inter-State Studio & Publishing since the moment it started.

mom and pop business owners dayIn today’s business world, it’s not easy to operate a family-owned business and compete with major companies. But that’s exactly what we’ve done for 83 years. Thanks to a philosophy that began in Guy Snyder’s basement and has been carried forward across three generations of the Snyder family, Inter-State Studio continues to grow, while remaining steadfast in the core values that got us here:  a strong belief in community, giving back to the community, and family.

A hallmark of successful mom and pop business owners is a strong work ethic, and it’s something in which we take immense pride. Aric Snyder Sr. started working for the company when he was a teenager, moving his way through and up before taking over as CEO in 1988 after his father passed away. Teamwork is also a vital part of any mom and pop business. Aric and Cindy provide that model for us, which guides how the entire company operates. With the support of those with whom we work, we produce millions of images every year that capture a moment in time to be cherished by parents, grandparents, and families now, and for years to come.

What it all comes down to is that Inter-State Studio & Publishing Co. is run like a family, with a lot of hard work, love, trust, and loyalty. We’re proud to be the largest family-owned photography studio in North America, and we’re honored to be entrusted with making memories for you and your family each year.
